Haydn Brown is a full-time queer freelance photographer from the North East, specialising in portrait and event coverage.

…which sounds very official, doesn’t it?

Hi, I’m Haydn, I started writing in third person and immediately hated it. Turns out I’m much better at talking to people than talking about myself.

So let’s keep it casual because that’s way more my style (and probably yours too if you’re still reading).

Art and creativity has been a big part of me from a very young age - I just swapped pencils for cameras somewhere along the way. Photography grew from obsession to career pretty quickly, and I’ve spent almost 10 years refining a style that’s bold, saturated, emotive and unmistakably queer.

I graduated from Northumbria University with a degree in Fashion Communication, won London Fashion Week’s Award for Fashion Communications Portfolio, and have somehow turned my love of storytelling into a full-time job that lets me work with the most incredible people.

Being queer isn’t an “add-on” to my work, it’s at the centre of everything I do. I don’t document queerness as something alternative; I frame it as the standard. Over the years, I’ve worked with Pride organisations and LGBTQIA+ charities across the North East, and I’ve loved photographing drag artists, performers, and creatives who bring their unapologetic selves to the world.

Representation means to world to me, and I make sure the people and stories that deserve visibility get it. Collaboration, accessibility, and authenticity are the foundation of my practice.

I like to call my style colourfully chaotic; bold, expressive, and full of life. If you’re looking for sterile, overly posed imagery, I’m probably not the right fit. But if you want photographs that vibrate with energy and emotion, then we’re definitely on the same page.

When i’m not shooting events or photographing beautiful people… i’m usually buying house plants or spooning my cat, Tammie.
